Everything Mise Does for Your Kitchen: A Complete Feature Guide

Mise writes a brief for your kitchen before each service. It reads your covers history, your menu and your staff positions, checks the weather and local events for the date, and gives you the numbers and the plan for that service.

This is what each part does.

Service briefs

A brief is written for one service: a date and a shift, lunch, dinner or late night. It gives you:

  • Predicted covers, from your past services on the same day and shift, the weather and local events
  • Projected revenue, using your average spend per cover when you have revenue logged
  • Food and labour cost estimates for the service
  • A confidence level: low, medium or high
  • Weather and local events found for that date, and what they mean for the service
  • A position plan: how many people each position needs, what each covers, and a time to send people home, with the reason
  • Portions per dish for your best sellers, when you have sales history
  • Ingredients to prepare and what they cost, when those dishes have recipes
  • Watch items and revenue notes
  • A chef's note of two or three sentences

Two AI systems do the work. Perplexity searches the weather, local events, holidays and disruptions for your venue's place on that date. Claude writes the brief from that and your own numbers.

Each brief costs one credit. If the brief cannot be written, or the answer comes back cut off, the credit returns to your balance.

You can add a note before writing, such as a private party of twenty at eight, and the brief is written with it in mind. You can also write the briefs for a whole week in one go.

Covers and sales history

Your covers history is what each brief reads first. A brief averages your past services on the same day and shift, so every service you log adds to that baseline.

Three ways to get it in:

1. POS webhook. Each venue has its own webhook address. Toast and Lightspeed payloads are recognised, and any system that can post JSON works with the standard format. Once your POS sends each service's data, covers and revenue are logged without typing. Square sales can come in as a CSV or Excel export.

2. CSV or Excel upload. Export from your POS and drop the file in. Claude reads the columns and pulls out covers, revenue and dish-level sales. You check the preview and confirm.

3. By hand. Log a service with its date, shift, covers, revenue and notes.

When covers for a past service come in, the dashboard puts them beside what the brief predicted, so you can see how close it was.

Menu and recipe costing

For each dish you can record:

  • Name, category, and the shifts it is served on
  • Sell price
  • Recipe ingredients with quantity per portion, unit and cost per unit

From the recipe, Mise works out the food cost per portion, the food cost as a percentage of the sell price, and the margin per plate. When an ingredient's price changes, update it in the recipes that use it and their food cost recalculates.

The Inventory tab records stock, par levels, units, costs and suppliers for your ingredients.

When a brief predicts portions per dish and those dishes have recipes, it lists the ingredients to prepare and what they cost.

Staff

For each team member:

  • Name and position title, in your kitchen's own words: Sous Chef, Grill, Expo, KP, Barback
  • Experience level
  • Maximum covers they can handle per shift
  • Hourly rate
  • Notes

A brief's position plan uses your position titles. It gives a headcount for each position, not names: who works which position stays your call.

Upload a roster as a CSV or Excel file and Claude reads the names, titles and rates, or add people one by one.

Rota

The rota is a weekly grid of days and staff. Click a cell to add or remove a lunch, dinner or late-night shift, and set how many hours each shift runs.

It adds up as you go:

  • Weekly labour cost, from the shifts you assign and each person's hourly rate
  • Daily labour cost
  • Labour as a percentage of forecast revenue, when the week has briefs
  • The brief's position plan for each day that has one, beside your rota

Venues and team access

Each venue has its own covers history, menu, staff, rota and briefs. It also has its own location, which its briefs use for the weather and events search, its seating capacity and its opening hours.

Invite your sous chef, GM or operations manager to a venue by email:

  • Manager: can edit
  • Viewer: can read

Each person signs in with their own account.

Brief emails

When a brief is ready, Mise can email you. A single brief comes with its own link, which anyone can open and print without an account, so you can forward it to your team. One switch on the Billing page turns these emails off.

Referral program

Every account has its own referral link, on the Refer & Earn page.

  • Share your link with another chef or restaurant owner
  • They sign up through it, which is free
  • When they buy a Growth ($59) or Pro ($109) pack, you both receive 5 bonus forecast credits

Each referral is rewarded once, and there is no limit on how many restaurants you refer. The Starter pack ($29) does not trigger the bonus. Credits never expire.

15 languages

Mise is available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Arabic and Egyptian Arabic, with Arabic written right to left. The app, and the emails it sends you, are in the language you use it in. The language switcher is in the navigation.

Pricing

Each brief costs one credit. Packs are one-time payments, and nothing renews.
